About Us

Wizzy is the product of desperate and caring parents who struggled with the behaviour of their neurodiverse children.

Our Story

Where did Wizzy™ start?

Welcome to Wizzy™ where we believe that sweets can be both delightful and nourishing.

Our journey began with a simple yet profound realisation: Parents with neuro-diverse children. We noticed firsthand how certain additives, like e-numbers, preservatives, and colorants found in commercial sweets, negatively affected their children's behaviour and overall well-being. These additives seemed to have a profound impact on their central nervous system, leading to behavioural challenges that affected their daily lives.

Determined to make a change, we decided to create our own line of sweets that are free from artificial colorants, preservatives, and any other synthetic additives. We wanted to offer a product that not only tastes amazing but also supports the health and well-being of neurodiverse children.

Our sweets are lovingly crafted with natural ingredients and sweetened with honey, a natural alternative that provides a delicious taste without compromising health. At Wizzy™ we believe that the joy of indulging in a sweet treat should not come at the expense of our children’s well-being.

At Wizzy™, we are more than just a brand; we are a family. With children of our own and a shared passion for health and happiness, Wizzy™ is committed to creating products that reflect our values and love for our children.

Thank you for joining us on this sweet journey. We hope our creations bring as much joy to your family as they have to ours.

The Science behind it all

Understanding the Impact of Artificial Additives on Children’s Behaviour

At Wizzy, we are dedicated to providing sweets that are not only delicious but also mindful of our children’s health. Our commitment stems from our personal experiences as parents of children with neurodiversity. We’ve seen firsthand how certain artificial additives can affect behaviour and well-being. In this article, we delve into the scientific evidence and case studies that highlight the importance of choosing natural ingredients.

The Science Behind Artificial Additives

Artificial additives, such as colourings and preservatives, are commonly found in many processed foods and sweets. These substances are often used to enhance the appearance and shelf-life of products. However, research has raised concerns about their potential impact on children’s behaviour, particularly those with neurodevelopmental conditions like ADHD.

The Southampton Study

One of the most significant studies in this field is the Southampton study, published in 2007 in the Lancet. The researchers investigated the effects of artificial food colourings and the preservative sodium benzoate on children’s behaviour. The study included both 3-year-olds and 8-9-year-olds and found that the consumption of these additives was associated with an increase in hyperactive behaviour. As a result, some countries have taken steps to limit or ban these additives in foods, especially those aimed at children.

The Science Behind the Findings

The findings of the Southampton study have led to increased awareness about the potential impact of food additives on children’s behaviour. It’s believed that these additives may affect the central nervous system, leading to increased hyperactivity and attention difficulties. While the exact mechanisms are not fully understood, it is clear that some children may be more sensitive to these additives than others.

Choosing Natural Alternatives

At Wizzy™, we understand the importance of offering sweets that are free from artificial additives. Our products are made with natural ingredients and sweetened with honey, ensuring that they are both delicious and supportive of our children’s health. By choosing natural alternatives, we aim to provide a safe and enjoyable treat for all families, especially those with neurodiverse children.
